Samsung Galaxy S6, possible support for Gear VR
Virtual reality is the new space that industria IT trying to conquer him lately. Korean company Samsung seems to be one of the companies producing mobile devices that wants a leading presence on this market, a fact demonstrated by the launch, in 2014, together with Oculus of the accessory Gear VR for Galaxy Note 4. Unfortunately, headset- only works with this model, but this will change with the release of the next one flagship marca Samsung. According to new rumors, Gear VR will extend its compatibility to other devices of the company.
A disadvantage is the fact that there are some problems related to the design of the accessory. It is built specifically for the Note 4 model, and a new version to support smaller screens would be possible with Samsung Galaxy S6. Recent information states that not only the new flagship will benefit from support for Gear VR, but also the long-awaited model S6 Edge with curved display. These will be the first smartphonecompatible with the virtual reality headset from Samsung that are not part of the Note range.
There are rumors that the new Gear VR will not only be compatible with the new Samsung smartphones, but will offer the possibility to use phones of different sizes. Samsung wants to sell the new headset as a universal accessory. Considering the fact that one of the limitations of virtual reality technology is processing power, the possibility of upgrading would be a clear advantage of the new Gear VR compared to the previous generation. Since the model available on the market represents a simple variant oriented to developers, it is possible that this is the finished product, oriented to ordinary users.
Considering the fact that Samsung has as a partner one of the most prominent companies in this field, it is possible that Gear VR is the first step towards the adoption of this technology at the consumer level. The year 2015 seems to be the year in which we will see more variants of VR glasses, with solutions from companies such as Razer and even Microsoft, with an interesting variant based on holograms. The new information does not reveal much new information about the Galaxy S6, except that it is confirmed again (unofficially) that it will receive an Edge version with a curved display.
